Poetry Workshop with Robin Bell, by Alex H. 1SIA

"On Monday October 17th, Robin Bell, grandfather of one of the students in the bilingual section, came in as part of the ambassadors of culture program, to promote imagination and poetry.

After an introduction to the class of 1SIA1, he read some of his poems from his new book Reliable Knowledge (Connaissances fiables), chosen for their twists and morale to present modern poetry that criticizes and analyses the world whilst entertaining and forcing the reader to reflect.

He then led the students in a poetry activity, encouraging the class to work in pairs and attempt to write their own short poem. After reading their poems, the students could ask questions about poetry and Mr Bell's perspective on his works.

The same activity happened with a class of secondes the next day for a duration of two hours."

Students describe the activity as:

"An interesting experience that allowed us to use creativity and imagination!" Thomas, 1SIA1

"A marvelous lesson that brought out our emotions and thoughts into our poems and made us think about every word we write"; Loanne, 1SIA1

"A fun activity, fabulous poet and amazing teacher" Nael, 1SIA1

Many thanks to Mr Prieur and Mrs Rostaing for hosting these activities and to their classes who participated with enthusiasm.
